Due to the strategic value of its location, the Qing Government built Kowloon Walled City in 1847. It was built as a military outpost occupied by several hundred soldiers to reinforce the coastal defence of the region. Why did it develope into a semi-lawless enclave and Jiangnan garden style park later? You may find out the answers in our ‘Civil–military Strategies – Journey to Kowloon Walled City’!
It is a great opportunity to learn about the history of Kowloon Walled City along with its historic building and archaeological finds, while enjoy the rich culture and artistic nuances behind Jiangnan architectural design, guided by our docent. Following the tour, students will immerse themselves in the role of soldiers, engaging in military examination game and fight for the role of Commander-in-Chief, Kowloon Walled City. Let us come together to learn about the ancient civil and military strategies and appreciate the profound depths of Chinese culture in this delightful and immersive experience!
